“A Celebration by the Sea”

Lights, Camera, Christmas! Nothing signals the start of the holiday season in Hilton Head more than the Dove Street Festival of Lights. This annual home light decorating show is now in its 19th year. Started in 1990, one of the residents decorated a single 40-foot magnolia tree to celebrate the birth of their new baby daughter. Each year more and more neighbors decided to join in and so started this festival of lights. At first, viewers offered residents money for light bills, but feeling in the holiday spirit the home owners decided to donate the money to charity. The located Deep Well Project has become the benefactor of this wonderful family event.

This year the tradition continues as over 50 beach-side homes prepare to light up their homes with “Holly and Jolly”! Powering up this Friday Dec. 4, and dimming down Dec. 26, anyone is welcome to walk, drive, or take a trolley through the display! The show is free and donations are expected at the end with all profit going right to Deep Well.

Stop in at Rita’s from 6-10pm Dec. 4-5 & Dec. 11-26 to make donations and drop of unwrapped holiday toys. There will also be live entertainment Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6pm Dec. 4-19 at The Well @ Ritas!
