It struck me as odd and interesting to point that when I got home I had to look it up online. It took me a while but found it here. I really love Hilton Head island because you take such pride in preserving the islands natural habitat amoung today’s population and lifestyle. The statue is beautiful.

It isn’t allowed in designated swimming areas, but a life guard should be able to tell you the exact spots. We would suggest the Burke’s Beach area, for a less crowded spot.

We are planning on being on HHI for vacation. I spent my summers in Garden City surf fishing and loved it. I would really like to share that experience with my son now, but I don’t know where on HHI we can do that. We are staying on North Forest Beach in a house. Is there anywhere in particular that we can surf fish? I’m a SC resident and plan to buy a license if this is going to work out. I appreciate any help you can offer. He’s only 4, so guided boat tours are a little too grown up for him at this point.
