Spend New Year’s Eve in Hilton Head

New year's eve Hilton HeadWhere better to spend New Year’s Eve than at the beach? If you’re lucky, it just might be warm enough to head out to the sand for a little Midnight celebration. If not, we’ve got many more ideas for you to live it up “golf island” style.

Here are some Hilton Head New Year’s Eve events — some for entire families, some just for adults — should you decide to join us to ring in 2013:

Harbour Town New Year’s Eve Celebration, 7 p.m.-Midnight

Harbour Town doesn’t drop a ball of crystals at midnight, but a golf ball instead! Come watch the “ball” drop from the top of the famous Harbour Town lighthouse at both 7 p.m. (great for families with young kids) and midnight. Enjoy live music and food at the Quarterdeck restaurant and Topside Waterfront restaurant. More information.

Polar Bear Swim, All Day, Dec. 31

If you really want to go crazy on New Year’s Eve, get ready to take a chilly plunge at the annual Polar Bear Swim. Take a dip in the Harbour Town Pool inside the Sea Pines Resort and then warm up afterward with hot chocolate and refreshments. Do you dare? More information.

Kingfisher Restaurant, 8 p.m., 18 Harbourside Lane

Enjoy music, dancing and fun at this seafood and steak restaurant. For $44.95/person, you’ll get a three course meal, party favors and midnight champagne toast. More information.

Jazz Corner New Year’s Eve Gala, early seating 5 p.m., late seating 9 p.m. (sold out), 1000 William Hilton Parkway

Take in a jazz concert, a three-course dinner, champagne toast and party favors for $75/person. More information.

“Noon” Year’s Eve Celebration, The Sandbox, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 18A Pope Ave.

This is an event for kids that allows you to celebrate New Year’s a little earlier in the day. The Sandbox, an interactive children’s museum, will host a party with a bounce house, pretend snow, arts and crafts, lunch, party favors and a balloon drop at noon. $10 adults and children 1 and older. More information.

Please remember not to drink and drive! Call a cab if you’ve been drinking or don’t have a designated driver. Here’s to a happy Hilton Head New Year!
